What to prepare before your first in-home lesson: space, gear and safety

In-home coaching covers fitness, yoga, Pilates, music, tutoring and dance. HomeCoach requires support to confirm goals, venue and fees at booking before a coach is dispatched — no 'arrive and discover it can't be taught'. The more precise your notes, the closer the plan to reality.

Before the lesson, prepare about 2m × 2m of clear floor, a non-slip surface, and move tables and breakables away; have water and a towel ready; take out instruments for music lessons; and confirm visitor rules and slots for estate or public pools before swimming lessons.

Flag special groups: arrange a parent to be present for children, describe mobility and medication for seniors, and get medical clearance for prenatal or postnatal clients. Coaches adjust intensity and pacing to these details.

Safety: confirm the coach's name and arrival window through HomeCoach support, and do not tell unverified callers that your home will be empty. After the first lesson, agree further sessions, pack terms and cancellation/make-up rules with your coach.

Fees vary by coach seniority, lesson length, travel time and whether extra gear is needed. The fee-clarity rule still applies: extra time or equipment waits for your approval. For consumer checks on comparing service quotes, see the Consumer Council's public education materials.
